Judge's Critiques

Thank you very much to the committee for the invitation to judge at this very friendly and well run club.
The food was delicious, my steward was impeccably efficient and the exhibitors made me very welcome, and accepted my decisions gracefully. Thank you to you all for such a lovely, top quality entry. I had to do a lot of nit picking to separate the exhibits, and in many of the classes, I would have liked more than one red card. There were a few upright front pasterns, which was reflected in a short upper arm, but overall, fronts seem to be improving.

DOGS
MP
1 Coode’s Warringah’s The Bluff. Black of just 6 months. A very pretty baby with a lovely head and expression. Clean neck leading to well laid shoulders and a lovely front overall. Correct length of upper arm. Level top line, which he held well on the move for one so young. Lovely tight feet, with just the right amount of slope to the front pasterns, which, together with his correct angulation behind, meant that his movement was effortless. One to watch. BMPIS.

P
1 Perkins Carromer Teguila By Keeninspires. Yellow, maturing nicely and not too quickly. Just right for his age. Very nice head with no hint of coarseness, not finished yet, but that’s as it should be. Good front angulation, forechest and brisket yet to broaden and develop, but the shoulders are correct. Ribs not yet fully sprung, but the top line is level and firm, with correct tail set. Second thigh not yet fully developed, but this will come with maturity. He’s going through his slightly rangy stage at the moment, but this does not detract from the fact that he’s correct and balanced both standing and on the move. Will be worth waiting for. Moved very nicely. BPD

2 Coode’s Warringah’s The Bluff

J
1 Chapman’s Daisypatch Jelly Tot. This yellow dog is maturing very nicely. He has the most beautiful head, with a very kind expression. Good front and shoulders, with well sprung ribs and correct depth through the girth, strong, level top line. Well made quarters, with good second thigh and low, powerful hocks. Good bone and lovely tight feet. To be hyper critical, he’s a little lazy behind on the move. This is not a structural fault, and if it can be rectified, this lovely dog could go right to the top. Shown in excellent coat. BD. & BOS

1 Wall’s Inca Velvet At Brynkellan. Black boy of 15 months. A slow maturing type who won’t be at his best until about 3 years. This is not necessarily a bad thing. Nice head with an excellent eye colour. Very good bone with lovely tight feet. A slight slope to his croup at the moment. Maturity and a bit of free galloping may correct this. Second thigh yet to develop, but he’s still a baby. A lovely coat of the correct texture.

UG
Two nice dogs. I really had to split hairs here.

1 Chapman’s Daisypatch Jelly Tot

2 Meredith’s Linjor Lucca Very nice yellow with a lovely head and expression. Very similar in type to the winner. Strong, well set neck into good shoulders and an excellent front. Well sprung ribs, good, level top line with tail coming straight off. I think he would have benefited from a bigger ring as he was unable to really get into his stride. He was shown in excellent coat, and top class condition.

G

1 Chapman’s Daisypatch Jelly Tot

2 Jones’s Adoraden Milky Way For Serengoch. Chocolate with a nice head and an excellent eye colour. Well developed forechest and a good layback of shoulder. Correct amount of bone and tight, well rounded feet. Good spring of rib. Let down by his coat, which was not of correct texture. Nevertheless, a decently constructed dog overall.

PG
1 Hext’s Deerbrook Maximus. Black of overall good type, but a definite late maturer. Well balanced head, with a good length of muzzle and a kind eye. Correct angles fore and aft with a good strong top line. Not in his best jacket today, which made him look a little rangy. Moved very nicely.

2 Moody’s Trendlewood Mr Blue Sky. Yellow dog who has a lot of good breed points, but I thought him a little coarse in head. Very nice front. Strong, well sprung ribs and well developed quarters. Move true fore and aft, albeit lacking in rear drive. Shown in very good coat.

L
1 Felton-Page’s Marshwiggle Mr Carson. Yellow with a nice, well balanced head and a kind eye. Good shoulders. Well sprung ribs with a level top line which he held well on the move. Not in his best coat, but enough there to see that it is double, and correct texture. Well off for bone, good feet and moved very nicely.

2 Perkins’s Keeninspires Houdini. Black with a nice head and a kind eye. I’d have liked a little more length to the upper arm, though the shoulder blades were well laid back. Slightly over angulated behind, which gave him a rounded action on the move and made him a little loose in the hock.

3 Price’s Rowanhol London Welsh.

O
1 Carpanini’s Carpenny Primo. Black of a very nice type. Kind head, but with quite a dark eye and a shortish muzzle. Really good front and forechest, with correct shoulder placement, well sprung ribs and a level top line, which he held perfectly on the move. Well angulated quarters, which, together with his correct shoulders, powered him around the ring. Excellent double coat.RBD

2 Harvey Majors Linjor Rigsby. Yellow. Lovely head set on to a strong but clean neck. Good shoulders leading into well sprung ribs. Short, strong back, with a level top line and correct tail set. A little longer in the hock than the winner, and pinning very slightly in front. In excellent coat. Another that would have benefited from a bigger ring.

3 Britton’s Bowstones Pumpkin

SP WORKING D or B

1 Coode’s Warringah’s Gulwarra. Chocolate bitch. Stood alone but I liked her very much. Gorgeous head with excellent pigmentation. Soundly constructed. Strong neck flowing into a level top line, plenty of heart room in her well developed forechest. Excellent spring of rib. Very nice quarters. Superb on the move. Pushed my reserve best bitch very hard.

V D or B

1 Braddon’s Trendlewood Snowman. Yellow dog of nearly 11 years who carries his age effortlessly. Lovely kind head, with a truly noble expression. Correct angles fore and aft and moved like a dog half his age. In excellent coat and condition. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to go over such a lovely old boy.

2 Mills’s Linjor Magnolia At Jaybec. Yellow bitch with very clean lines. Nice feminine head. Not quite the front angulation of my winner, and a tad longer cast, not a bad thing in a bitch. Lovely dense double coat and a fabulous otter tail. Moved nicely.

3 Barker’s Deerbrook Millionheir

BITCHES

MP

1 Perkin’s Keeninspires Moon And Stars. Black with a very pretty, feminine head. Well made overall, but will need time to grow into her frame. Very good coat. A little untidy on the move, but time and maturity will remedy this. She’s just a baby at present.

P

1 Lally’s Chyanhol Trezelah. Black. My notes say wow. I loved everything about her. Balanced head with a melting expression. Strong, clean neck flowing into well laid shoulders. Excellent spring of rib for her age. Short coupled with a strong, level top line, tail coming straight off. Very good width of stifle leading to short, strong hocks, which powered her around the ring. Topped off with a fabulous coat and otter tail. I will watch her career with interest. BPIS

2 Braddon’s Trendlewood Back To Black. Another nice black. I see she is by the same dog as the winner, and is very similar in type. Maybe not quite as mature, though they are the same age. Once again, a lovely head, just right for her age. She is very nicely balanced, with a good front. Not quite as firm in top line as my winner, but this should tighten as she matures. Excellent quarters. Lovely tight feet.

3 Harvey Major’s Anuedis Hearts On Fire In Linjor.

J
Three lovely bitches.

1 Braddon’s Trendlewood Simply The Best. Yellow. I loved her. Classic head, not quite finished yet, but it will come, with a kind eye. Excellent reach of neck flowing into well laid back shoulders and a good spring of rib. Level top line. Short coupled, strong over the loins and croup. Good width and turn to the stifle. In excellent coat and a lovely mover. One to watch.

2 Chapman’s Daisypatch Dolly Mixture. Another nice yellow. Similar in type to my winner. Her head is a little more finished, but is still feminine. Not quite the turn of stifle of my winner, but she’s still relatively young and is by no means the finished article, time & patience will remedy this.

3 Mills’s Trendlewood Day Dreaming.

M

1 Lally’s Chyanhal Trezelah

2 Braddon’s Trendlewood Back To Black

3 Harvey-Major’s Anuedis Hearts On Fire In Linjor

N

1 Miles’s Newinn Lacy Brown Of Llanstinan. Chocolate. Very nicely made. I loved her head. Very kind eye and expression. Strong, clean neck leading to a super front. Well sprung ribs and strong over the loin. Very good bone. Excelled in coat, with superb pigmentation and a lovely otter tail.

2 Chapman’s Daisypatch Tutti Frutti. Yellow. A pleasing outline. Sweet head. Well laidback shoulders. Not quite the spring of rib of my winner, and a little longer cast. This extra length to her coupling enabled her to really get her hocks underneath her, consequently, she moved very well.

3 Phillips’s Rowanhol Moon River At Sheenaron.

UG

1 Mills’s Trendlewood Day Dreaming. Yellow. Third in a very strong junior class. Pretty head. Nice front. Ribs yet to fully spring, but a very nice bitch in the making. Maybe just a little long in the hock, but this did not interfere with her movement, which was excellent, and which won her the class.

2 Hoban’s Meadowleigh Black In Style. Black with a very nice, clean outline. Good length of neck. Plenty of forechest with good length of upper arm. Well sprung ribs. Good coat and otter tail. Not as good on the move as my winner, a little close behind, but she’s still a yearling, so movement may improve as her axial skeleton fully develops.

3 Price’s Rowanhol High Hopes.
G

1 Peggs’s Jancet Aurora. Yellow who is maturing very nicely indeed. Classic head, with a correct stop and good length of muzzle. Nice eye colour and pigmentation. A very good set of shoulders. Lovely, barrel rib cage, firm, level top line, which she held on the move. Very well made quarters, with well developed second thigh. Nice bone and neat feet. Moved very well. One to watch.

2 Barker’s Sharouns Yellow Ribbon around Deerbrook. Another nice yellow. Pretty, feminine head. Not quite as much bone as my winner, and a little slack in top line. Nice angulation all round. Lovely coat and tail. Moved nicely.

3 Collins’s Carromer Worth A Glance At Kaspair

PG

1 Kent’s Trewinnard Piccadilly. Yellow with the most enchanting head and expression, set off by superb pigmentation. Well balanced, classic lines. Good spring of rib. Well boned legs with neat feet and just the right amount of slope to the front pasterns and strong, well let down hocks behind. Together with her correct angles fore and aft, this allowed her to flow effortlessly around the ring.

2 Evans’s Saranden Amahami At Bowsian. Black. Nice head with a good eye colour. Strong, clean neck. Plenty of forechest. Strong, level top line with correct tail set. Very good double coat of correct texture. A nice bitch overall, but I’d have liked her feet to be a little tighter and neater. Moved well.

3 Nightingale’s Flyenpig Snazzy Sniffer.

L

1 Carpanini’s Carpenny Philly. Black. Very stylish bitch. Strongly made, but still feminine and with no hint of coarseness. Excelled in front construction. Deep through the girth. A little longer in the rib cage than some, but still short in the coupling, with no hint of weakness over the loins. Good turn of stifle. Well let down hocks, which she got well under her on the move, and which drove her forward in a ground covering stride. RBB &RBIS

2 Miles’s Llanstinan Imelda May. Chocolate of a lovely rich, deep colour. Not quite the head of my winner, and a tad upright in front pasterns. Nevertheless, she earned her place with her other qualities. Very good spring of rib. Strong over the loins with a level top line and correct set on of tail. Correct double coat of very good texture.

3 Hoban’s Meadowleigh Romantic Quest.

O
Three very nice bitches

1 Britton’s Bowstones Polka. This lovely yellow oozes quality. She’s not flashy, she’s not overdone, she’s just correct. Textbook head, with the sweetest of expressions. Strong, but clean neck, flowing into well laid back shoulders. Well developed forechest and correct length of upper arm, putting her front construction well back under her withers, and giving her balance. Well sprung, barrel ribs, short, strong coupling. Just the right amount of width and turn to the stifle. In excellent coat and condition. Presented a lovely picture, both standing and on the move. I’d be happy to have her in my kennel. BB & BIS

2 Lally’s Sh Ch Trewinnard Pimlico. Black. Another quality bitch. I marginally preferred the head of my winner. Very good set of shoulders, and upper arm, with a good spring of rib and a firm top line. Strong over the loins. Well let down hocks. Nice amount of bone. Not quite in her best jacket today, just a bit skimpy in the trousers, but enough to see that she has a very good double coat of excellent texture. A worthy Champion.

3 Phillips’s Carpenny Velvet At Sheenaron.
