Judge's Critiques



I would like to thank the Committee for a warm welcome and well run show. The stewards were very efficient and kept the ring running smoothly, throughout the day, thank you. I thoroughly enjoyed the day and appreciate the exhibitors' entries.

MPD (3, 2 present)

1. Hodge’s Naiken Island Hopping (AI) moved with purpose around the ring, covering the ground freely, driving from the rear and demonstrating a strong topline on the move. Good depth of chest and barrel ribs. Clean cut head with expressive eyes, with well-defined stop. Short, dense coat true to breed, compact feet and otter tail completed the image.
2. Trigg and Burns’ Best Boy Barney, athletic yellow new to the show ring, he was presented in good condition with biddable nature evident. Dense, double coat, good length of neck into laid back shoulders.

PD (3, 3)
1. Harvey Major’s State Park in Linjor JW
11 month old puppy maturing well. Masculine head with defined stop and gentle expression. Balanced construction in front and rear, broad and deep through the chest with well-sprung barrel ribs. Level topline with short coupled outline. Strong rear, well defined pasterns and hocks well let down. Caught my eye today with his enthusiastic nature evident. BPD
2. Snelgrove and Priddice’s Little Black Pud of Duskmeadow. Black boy with good bone, deep chest and barrel ribs. Dense coat and wrapped otter tail but a little heavy on the shoulder today.

YD (5, 3)
1. Evans’ Trendlewood Long Time Comin at Pudleigh JW Good angulation, well-constructed front with strong muscle to forequarter and good reach of neck. Head to type with alert, intelligent expression.
2. Price’s Rownahol Obiwan Kenobi Close coupled black boy, strong masculine head, correct ear set and dentition. Short, dense coat with otter tail typical of breed.
3. Perkins’ Mcfarwin’s Grey Legacy by Keeninspires JW

GD (3, 3)
1. James’ Farnfield Goosebumps at Tazlyn. Close coupled yellow dog with good reach of neck into well laid back shoulders. Athletic and moved with ease around the ring, tail carried rather gaily.
2. Chapman’s Daisypatch Annie’s Boy Broad and deep through chest into well sprung barrelled ribs. Nice masculine head, correct scissor bite and good strong front with deep chest.
3. Barker’s Deerbrook I’m the Boss

PGD (4, 4)
1. Snelgrove and Priddice’s Atkeenthorne Lord Pud of Duskmeadow Short coupled black dog with good front angulation and bone. Broad skull, intelligent expression and coat true to breed. He moved freely, driving from the rear and holding his topline when in motion.
2. Barker’s Deerbrook I’m the Boss. Nicely balanced front and rear with good angulation both sides. Good turn of stifle and let down hocks. He was more settled on the move in this class. Out of coat today.
3. Chapman’s Daisypatch Ostrato

LD (3, 3)
1. Braddon’s Trendlewood One More Time well constructed yellow, strong front construction with well laid back shoulders, level topline and tailset. Moved with purpose and precision, an honest well built Labrador true to the breed type.
2. Essenhigh & Bishop’s Brynlluan Midnight Star strongly built black with well sprung ribs, well muscled rear. Masculine head with well defined stop. Coat, short and dense, true to type.
3. Chapman’s Daisypatch Jelly Tot JW

OD (3, 3)
1. Tokman’s Multi/Int Ch Rusmairas Fisher
A consummate showman who was handled well, enabling him to show him at his finest. In excellent coat and condition, masculine head with defined stop and good length of muzzle. Well placed ears and brown eyes with intelligent expression. Strongly built body, well boned and balanced with good spring of ribs. He moved with purpose around the ring, covering the ground freely and demonstrating a strong topline on the move. He went on to take BD and BOB.
2. Harvey Major’s Just the Joker in Linjor: yellow dog with ring presence he caught my eye and was a deserved RBD and RBOB. Balanced construction in front and rear, broad and deep through the chest with well-sprung barrel ribs. Masculine head, expressive eyes, with well-defined stop. Short, dense coat true to breed, compact feet and otter tail completed the outline.
3. Perkins’ Carromer Teguila by Keeninspires

SWD or B (3, 1)
1. Hodge’s Ch Naiken Etoile (AI) six year old chocolate bitch in good condition. Feminine head with gentle expression, correct ear set. Clean neck flowing into good shoulders, level topline and otter tail straight off back. She moved with athletic ease around the ring. RBB.

VD or B (4, 2)
1. Moody’s Trendlewood Mr Blue Sky mature yellow, well constructed front and rear with good angulation. Exuberant but biddable temperament evident, he covered the ground with ease, maintaining his level topline and tailset.
2. Perkins’ Keeninspires Mamma Mia black bitch with feminine head and expression. Deep chest and well sprung ribs, a little on the heavy side today.
 

Baby PD or PB (5, 4)
1. Price’s Rowanhol Wonderful Tonight a promising yellow puppy bitch, clean outline and compact construction. Strong topline and tailset straight off back, she has ring presence and clearly enjoyed her time in the ring.
2. Minchella’s Haslorhill High Flyer: young black bitch with sound construction front and rear. She moved cleanly and with purpose.
3. Braddon’s Trendlewood Rumour Has It

MPB (5, 2)
1. Hodge’s Naiken Inspiral (AI) 7 month old chocolate bitch, classic outline and not overdone in any way. Good depth of chest for her age and maturity. Balanced construction front and rear, with well laid back shoulders, level topline and tailset with wrapped otter tail and dense coat. She moved with purpose and poise, focused on handler and giving more ring presence than her litter mate. BMP
2. Jones’ Serengoch’s Shock Wave balanced outline with well turned stifle, wrapped otter tail and good bone. Front movement slightly loose today.

PB (4, 3)
1. Hoban’s Meadowleigh Time To Dream pretty 9 month black, feminine head and gentle expression, good reach of neck and level topline and tailset. Dense coat, true to breed, moved freely and with drive from the rear.
2. King’s Claychalk Costa Crypto For Mikmaqlabs lovely outline with balance, good angulation and reach of neck. She moved freely and is developing good second thigh definition.
3. Tatchell’s Smokeycot Dreamshot Lady

JB (4, 3)
1. Braddon’s Trendlewood It Takes Two strongly built chocolate with good depth of chest and barrel ribs. Close coupled and strong rear construction with well turned stifle.

1. Jones’ Serengoch’s Knockin Boots chocolate bitch with good depth of chest and reach of neck. Good bone and tight feet. Moved with ease around the ring.
2. Price’s Rowanhol Seven Wonders smaller bitch with feminine head, good topline and tailset.

NB (3, 0)

UGB (5, 3)
1. King’s Mikmaqlabs Heart’s Desire yellow with classic outline, balanced with good length of leg, correct angulation, level topline, double coat and good otter tail.
2. Tatchell’s Smokeycot Nostalga Queen close coupled yellow with sound movement. Feminine head and gentle expression.
3. Cary’s Langanhoe Liberty Bell in Aquadell


GB (5, 4)
1. James’ Farnfield Winnie The Witch At Tazlyn Pretty head with good stop and gentle head long, clean neck flowing into good shoulders, level topline and tail straight off back. Moved with purpose driving from a well muscled rear.
2. King’s Mikmaqlab’s Heart’s Desire (1st in UGB)

PGB (8, 5)
1. Braddon’s Trendlewood Tiger Lily a balanced yellow, slightly finer in make with good angulation front and rear. Moved athletically with drive from the rear.
2. Philips’ Rochevale Gypsy At Sheenaron yellow, feminine in head and expression. Good depth to her chest with an even topline and tail straight off her back.
3. Stewart’s Streamanda Guelder Rose

LB (7, 3)
1. Frazer & Frazer’s Silmarillion Gondolin well made yellow. Head and neck in proportion and on well laid back shoulders. Moved smoothly, a good, honest Labrador who deserved 1st in the class.
2. Evan’s Brynlluan Black Diamond At Bowsian: black bitch with strong head and muscular body. Couldn’t hold her topline and tailset on the day.
3. Braddon’s Trendlewood Shape Of You

OB (6, 3)
1. Evan’s R Ch Eminala Star Struck Farnfield: stunning yellow bitch who stood out for me today. Feminine head with soft expression. Good angulation, well-constructed front and rear with excellent muscle to forequarter. She moved effortlessly with drive from the rear on compact feet. She oozed ring presence in the bitch challenge, taking BB and BOS.
2. Philips’ Rowanhol Moon River At Sheenaron Yellow bitch with feminine expression and focus. Balanced all round; reach of neck, front and rear angulation. Athletic build, she moved soundly.
